Hydro Drive Amphicar

The Amphicar was designed as a multipurpose vehicle, capable of navigating both roads and bodies of water. As a car, its 1147cc Triumph four-cylinder produced a modest 47 horsepower, giving it leisurely acceleration and a top speed of just 70 MPH. On the water, the Amphicar had a top speed of seven knots, meaning it wasn’t the first choice of tow boat for waterskiers. Less than 4,000 were assembled before production ended in 1965, and today these quirky models enjoy a relatively robust following.
